Car PotSaturday, 20 October 2007 As Tom had been eager to do Car Pot for a while now, and I needed someone to hold a flashgun for hours on end, this seemed an excellent opportunity for a trip.Saturday dawned bright and sunny, and a rather sweaty walk saw us to the entrance at around 1pm (morning was spent procrastinating, eating, and driving around looking for somewhere that sold camera film). About 20m from the entrance, the BPC were met at their latest dig....preparing to blast! Eek! Soon underground and good progress made down the cave. The letterbox and Baptistry crawl were, once again, a doddle to pass, although a few of the larger rocks had to be pushed ahead in the crawl. It was here that the first blast was heard, echoing very nicely down the constricted crawl!! Then down the 3rd, 4th and final pitches to the large north craven passage. We then headed over to the famous stal and curtain that can be found in this passage, and a few piccies were taken. We then headed up the mud wall into south craven passage where more piccies were taken. Eventually, and to tom's great relief, we set off back out. Underground photography is quite boring really, and dangerous although I didn't think Tom would try and bludgeon me to death with the flashgun!!! Quick progress was made up the pitches with Tom doing a fine job with the de-rigging, and even the bags & ammo tin of camera gear popped through baptistry crawl without a hitch!! Back on the surface around 8pm. Excellent trip!
